口语考试话:历届四级真题作文参考范文 2010年12月 Part I Writing How Should Parents Help Children to Be Independent? Most traditional Chinese families have only one child. Thus, parents devote all their resources and efforts to make sure that their children succeed in their future life. Many parents tend to help their children make decisions on their path of life, including education, career, and sometimes, even marriage. Young people, therefore, become more and more dependent on their parents whenever they need to make decisions. Most of them lack the ability to think for themselves, and to work and live independently, and they still count on their parents to get everything arranged for them. The ability to be independent is the key to their future success, so parents should see to it that their children grow independent of them. They should first teach them the sense of independence instead of making everything ready for them. As an old Chinese saying goes, to teach fishing is better than to give the fish. Parents should help their children to solve problems by themselves. Thus, children will gradually develop an ability to deal with difficulties independently. Furthermore, parents should urge their children to go outside more and find themselves more chances to experience the world by themselves. Most importantly, parents should leave their children making decisions independently, offering instructions and advices when necessary. A sense of independence is the basic quality of a responsible adult. Chinese parents should learn from western counterparts and urge their children to have their own way in their life. 2010年6月 Due Attention Should Be Given to Spelling English is one of Chinese students' compulsory subjects. Listening, speaking, reading and writing are the four main skills required of English learners. Spelling words correctly is the basis for writing. However ,many students often pay little attention to their spelling which they think is of little importance, and thus their writing is full of spelling mistakes. Why misspelling is so common in students' writing? There are several reasons underlying this phenomenon. First, students are not really motivated for what they are learning. They are not seeking quality but only quantity in study so as to meet teachers' requirements fast. Secondly, many English teachers don’t provide students with adequate knowledge of building up new words. Instead, they often leave their students memorizing words by themselves. The most efficient way of word building is to break words down into prefixes, suffixes and roots or at least learn them by syllables. Finally, most students are learning English in order to pass some exams, which are usually made up of multiple-choice questions, so they have been doing more ticking than writing, thus totally neglecting the spelling. To solve this problem, I think we should be made aware of the serious consequences of misspelling. Many times, the misplacement or missing of letters in a word will completely change its meaning, as in words like "dairy" and "diary", "dessert" and "desert", "principle" or render a word or phrase totally meaningless, thus leading to serious misunderstanding. Meanwhile, teachers should also attach due importance to the training of students' word-spelling, and call their attention to the importance of correct spelling and teach them good techniques of vocabulary building. 2009年12月 Create a Green Campus "Green campus", as a relatively new concept in a sense, means creating a green environment on campus. Campus is a place where most of the young people are educated for knowledge, technology and responsibility. College students are the most promising and competent young and future generation of economic construction. The very task of building a better, greener world lies with them. So "green campus”, either as a campaign or as an awareness, is of far-reaching significance. "Green campus" in its most general sense, is the development of a green physical environment on campus, but its content can go far beyond that. It can refer to the education of the students about the importance of environmental protection. It can be the development of an awareness of the environmental problems and their solutions and the development of a responsibility for the green world on the part on the students. Finally, it can involve the notion of sustainable economic development and the building of a harmonious society. Therefore, as college students, we should take an active part in "green campus" activities. We should take the initiative to arm ourselves with the knowledge about environment and its protection. We should try to communicate with our parents and neighbors about the importance of a green and harmonious community And we should act immediately, and spare no efforts and waste no time, to conserve and preserve natural resources whenever and wherever possible. 2009年6月 Free Admission to Museums More and more museums are open to the public free of charge, offering the general public an easy access to their resources, so as to facilitate their life-long education and give them an equal share of the knowledge of history, culture, science and technology. This is the practice that will benefit all of us. But besides the self-evident advantages, free admissions to museums may post some problems. In the first place, the preservation of the valuable cultural property may become difficult with too many visitors. Secondly, the museums will bear a heavier financial burden for the daily operation and maintenance of their facilities. If the visitors are very careless and frequently do damage to the equipment and surroundings there it will make the matter even worse. In my opinion, however, free admission to museums is of overwhelming significance, for this practice will surely cultivate the public awareness of the cultural wealth of our nation, as well as the updated development of science and technology. 2008年12月 Limiting the Use of Disposable Plastic Bags In the past, disposable plastic bags were widely used for their convenience in carrying things. When we went shopping at supermarkets or bought takeouts from restaurants, we were provided free of charge with plastic bags. It is obvious that plastic bags have become something important in our daily life. Wherever we go, we will bring a couple of them with us, just in case. However, we hardly notice the fact that plastic bags are ruining our environment. Our surroundings are littered with more and more plastic bags, which people refer to as "white pollution" because once they are thrown away, and they will not decompose easily, and instead will stay in nature for a very long time. They will float on water or be blown about and make our surroundings very ugly. If we try to remove them by burning, it will lead to even more serious pollution Not long ago, the government passed regulations, limiting the use of disposable plastic bags. They are not provided free of charge, and shops are required to provide environment-friendly, decomposable or non-disposable bags. This measure will in turn greatly improve the public awareness of environmental protection. In addition, it will help conserve natural resources and maintain a cleaner earth for ourselves as well as our future generations in the long run 2008年6月 Recreational Activities The 21st century brought in an era of information and technology, which provides people with a greater variety of recreational activities as well as more leisure time to go in for these activities. Besides the traditional sports, karaoke singing, dancing, fishing and movies or theater going, we can now play video games or online games, or surf on the Internet. Almost undoubtedly, the various activities made possible by modern technology have added excitement to our life, greatly enriched our knowledge and profoundly broadened our vision. By surfing on the net, for example, we not only relax and enjoy ourselves in a large way, but meanwhile have access to a great deal of useful information. But every coin has two sides, and recreational activities are no exception. When we are over indulged in some activities and even get addicted to it, we will tend to neglect our work and even cause our health to suffer. As a college student, what really matters, I think, is to exert more self-control, and be always clear about our priority. We should always bear in mind that recreational activities are only for recreation and that we engage in them to relax ourselves during our breaks from study, rather than to get fully occupied in them 2007年12月 What Electives to Choose Many colleges and universities are now offering more and more elective courses for their students to choose from to meet the ever-changing demand of the economic and social development and that of the human resources market. They are also doing so with a view to nurturing students' abilities. Certainly, students have in mind a wide variety of reasons in making their choices of the electives pro-vided by their schools. For some students who keep an eye on practical skills and future opportunities of employment, courses on language communication, business, computer science, marketing, and accounting are highly preferred. On the other hand, for those interested in basic knowledge development and theory study, literature, history, philosophy and other humanities are on the top of their list. For my part, I am a major of law, and I am of the opinion that university is a paradise of knowledge and critical thinking, rather than a mere place for acquiring survival skills. Therefore, besides my law study, I would also like to attend such elective classes as western culture, Chinese literature, music appreciation, and the like, because they will really do a good job in widening my horizon. 2007年6月 Welcome to Our Club Welcome to join the English club! It reminds us of the CCTV Spring Festival Gala on the New Year's Eve, which has been held for about 20 years on end and it has gained popularity among the Chinese people all over the world. Millions of Chinese, old and young, at home and abroad, will look forward to watching the program, and they will watch it, waiting for the bell and fireworks of the New Year, and they enjoy every minute of the program, which marks the beginning of the Spring Festival celebration and adds a great deal to its excitement. But its popularity also poses a national issue concerning its necessity. And people are expecting more and more of it, until it is now falling short of people's anticipations and tastes. So some people now suggest that it should be canceled, so that they can find other forms of celebration instead of passively confining themselves to TV. Without the Gala show, families could have something more interactive among them, they could do some games, telling each other experiences of the past year and getting to know each other better. I am not in favor of the idea that the Gala be abandoned. It is widely believed, especially among the overseas Chinese and among people in Taiwan, that this show is a staple and symbol of the traditional Chinese Spring Festival Eve. It offers them an occasion to relieve their homesickness and to long for the unification and strengthening of their motherland.
