Worsted Weight (#4) Yarn, I used I love this Yarn (a Hobby Lobby Brand)
US G Hook
For all sizes follow Rounds 1-7
With color brown, chain 3 and join into a ring with a slip stitch.
Row 1) 8 hdc into ring, slst to join (8 sts)
Row 2) ch 2, 2 hdc in ea st, slst to join (16 sts),
Row 3) ch 2, 2 hdc in first st, *hdc in next st, 2 hdc in following st* slst to join (24 sts)
Row 4) ch 2, 2 hdc in first st, *hdc in next 2 sts, 2 hdc in following st* slst to join (32 sts)
Row 5) ch 2, 2 hdc in first st, *hdc in next 3 sts, 2 hdc in following st* slst to join (40 sts)
Row 6) ch 2, 2 hdc in first st, *hdc in next 4 sts, 2 hdc in following st* slst to join (48 sts)
Row 7) ch 2, 2 hdc in first st, *hdc in next 5 sts, 2 hdc in following st* slst to join (56 sts)
***All measurements are with the hat laid flat, so double it to get circumference.
Baby 0-6 months (width measures 7.25”)
Rows 8 – 17 or until hat measures 5.25” crown to base) ch2, hdc in ea st, slst to join (56

6 months-2 Years (width measures 8.75”)
Row 8) ch 2, 2 hdc in first st, *hdc in next 6 sts, 2 hdc in following st* slst to join (64 sts)
Rows 9-19 or until hat measures 5.75” crown to base) ch 2, hdc in ea st, slst to join (64
sts)
Do not fasten off, continue on with the first ear flap instructions
3-8 Years (width measures 9.5”)
Row 8) ch 2, 2 hdc in first st, *hdc in next 6 sts, 2 hdc in following st* slst to join (64 sts)

Ear Flaps
Row 1) Ch1, slst next 6(8,10,14) st’s, ch1 ,sc in next 14st’s. Ch1, turn. (14)
Row 2) Dec first 2 st’s together, sc in next 10 st’s, dec last 2 st’s together. Ch1, turn. (12)
Row 3) Dec first 2 st’s together, sc in next 8 st’s, dec last 2 st’s together. Ch1, turn. (10)
Row 4) Sc evenly across. Ch1, turn. (10)
Row 5) Dec first 2 st’s together, sc in next 6 st’s, dec last 2 st’s together. Ch1, turn. (8)
Row 6) Sc evenly across row. Ch1, turn. (8)
Row 7) Dec first 2 st’s together, sc in next 4 st’s, dec last 2 st’s together. Ch1, turn. (6)
Row 8) Sc in each st across. Ch1, turn. (6)
Row 9) Dec first 2 together, sc in next 2, dec last 2st’s together. Ch1, turn. (4)
Row 10) Sc in each st across. Ch1, turn. (4)
Row 11) Dec first 2 st’s together, sc next 2 sts. Ch1, turn. (3)
Row 12) Sc in each st across. Ch1, turn. (3)
Row 13) Dec first 2 sts together, sc next 1 st. Ch1, turn. (2)
Row 14) Sc in each st across. Ch1, turn. (2)
Row 15) Dec 2 together. Ch1 (1)
Fasten off.
Second Ear Flap
With hat help upside down and back of hat facing you. Skip next 25(32,35,38) sts (going
from left to right) from edge of 1st ear flap. and attach yarn to the next st. Sc in the next
14st’s (14)
Follow Rows 2-15 to finish second ear flap.
Fasten off. Tie in ends.
Edging & Ties
Starting at seam of hat in the back, attach yarn (still using brown), sc all the way around
the entire hat, slst to join. Fasten off.
Switch to accent color (pink or blue).
With right side facing, join accent color at back of hat at the joining; ch 1, sc or hdc (sc
will give you a thinner trim than hdc, *I prefer hdc*) in same st and in each st to earflap,
work across earflap to tip of flap; ch 41, slst in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across
for tie, sc in same center st, continue to sc or hdc across remainder of earflap, front of hat
and to the tip of the other earflap and tie in the same way as the last tie. Sc or hdc to
seam, slst to join. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Ears (you will be working in the round so you will not be slip sitiching to join, you may
want to use a stitch marker)

With G hook and Dark Brown ch 2
Rnd 1) 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook (6 sc).
Rnd 2) 2 sc in ea sc around (12 sc)
Rnd 3) *sc in 1st sc, 2 sc in next sc* repeat from * to * to end (18 sc)
Rnd 4) *sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc* repeat from * to * to end (24sc)
Rnd 5) *sc in all sts around (24sc)
Fasten off leaving a 12” tail for sewing to hat.
Attaching the ears to hat:
Using the tail attach one ear s to the sides of the hat.
Flower for Girly Hats
Working all on the right side of rose
With pink and H hook
Rnd 1) Ch 2, sc in 1st ch from hook, ch 3, sc in same st as first sc,* ch 3, sc in same st as
other sc’s*. Repeat 4 more times so that you have 6 chain 3 loops all together.
Rnd 2) Ch 1, you will now be making the petals for the top flower, (sc,hdc,dc,hdc,sc) in
each ch sp around, join with sl st in first sc. (6 petals)
Rnd 3) Ch 1, holding petals forward, sc around post in between petals on back of rnd 1,
ch4, *sc around post in between petals of next sc on rnd 1, ch4,* repeat from * around,
join to first st. (6 ch sps)
Rnd 4) Ch1, for petals, (sc,hdc,3dc’s,hdc,sc) in each ch sp around, join to first st. (6
petals)
Rnd 5) Ch1, you will now be making the petals for the middle flower, sc around post in
between petals on back of rnd 3, ch4, * sc around post in between petals on rnd 3, ch4*
repeat from * to *. Slst to join to first st (6 ch sps)
Rnd 6) Ch1, you will now be making the petals for the bottom flower,
(sc,hdc,5dc’s,hdc,sc) in each ch sp around, join to first st. (6 petals)
Fasten off leaving about a 12" tail to sew with and attach flower to hat.
