英语作文:人们应不应该买车
Buy cars or not?
With China becoming the fastest growing market in the world, cars, which were considered luxurious, have now entered common households. A house and a car have become the symbol of average success in China nowadays. Should people in China own private cars? Some people are in support of this while others think just the opposite.
Buying cars wins support from many Chinese people not only because cars are convenient but also because car consumption plays a significant role in China’s economic growth. Talking about
convenience, nowadays because of the surging real estate price in downtown area, more people are moving to the suburb, where a car is needed for commuting everyday. As for economic growth, car industry today is developing rapidly into one of China’s economic pillars. Advanced car
industry is a symbol of a developed country, it needs to have a thriving car industry, and a prosperous car industry requires the support of every private car buyer.
On the other hand, those people who are against private cars usually view this problem in terms of environment and resources. First of all, car emission is the main contributor to global warming and other air pollution. If every family owns a car, then what kind of air shall we breathe? Another problem is that China is a country with limited resources, including both land and fuel. If every family owns a car, then resource of China may soon be exhausted and by then it would have to depend on other countries for gasoline.
In my opinion, no matter one likes it or not, private cars will prevail in China. To prevent the above problems from happening, we should devote more money and resources into developing energy-efficient and environmental-friendly technology as soon as possible.
