In a room there were four candles burning. It was so quiet that you could hear them talking.
The first one said, “I am peace, but the world is full of anger and fighting. Nobody can keep me lit. I believe I will go out.” Then the flame of Peace went out completely.
The second one said, “I am Faith. I am no longer indispensable, so it doesn’t make any sense that I stay lit any longer.” When it finished talking, a wind softly blew out its flame.
Sadly, the third candle spoke in its turn, “I am Love. I haven’t got the strength to stay lit. People don’t understand my importance, so they simply put me aside. They even forget to love those who are the nearest to them.” And waiting no longer Love’s flame went out.
Suddenly, a child entered the room and saw three candles not burning. “Why aren’t you burning? You are supposed to stay lit till the end.” Saying this, the child started to cry.
Then the fourth candle said, “Don’t be afraid! I am Hope. While I am still burning, we can relight the other candles.”

Over the years we have seen some strange inventions created by some inventors, but what are the strangest inventions of all time? That is a question that has been asked thousands of times before, and we can be certain that you will always get a different answer.
There are those inventors who seem to climb inside their minds and stay in their own world. This often becomes evident(明显的) in their strange creations. So we thought we could track(追踪) down a few of what we believed to be the strangest ones. We came across a website called InfoNIAC, and we thought we had found some strange inventions of all time.
The first is an invention called “Why Knot(打结)” and it is designed to do up a tie for you. There are two problems here --- the size of the machine, and how slow it would be. And one more thing, what was Seth Goldstein thinking when he invented it?
Next we have Alpha Omega Galaxy Freefall Generator. The inventor said that the machine actually created more free power than it took to power it. If it is really that good, then where is it now?
The final one that we believe to be strange is the Bowlingual, which is a dog translator --- it is not a Google April Fool. The company made one in 2002, and it is said to be a newer version(版本). We just have one question: Why?
These are just three of the strangest inventions of all time; do you have any others to add to the list?
( ) 51.
