Real-time measuring and controlling temperature, minimal invasiveness; fast recovery; satisfactory curative effect; minimal complications; safety and reliability make it used widely for treatment of malignant tumors such as liver, lung, kidney, adrenal, prostate, breast, etc. So we believe that RFA is the most promising technique for the treatment of patients with various malignant tumors. The following bottlenecks caused by ablation electrode have remained a serious problem for a long time:The following bottlenecks caused by ablation electrode have remained a serious problem for a long time:(1) The lesion size produced by a single ablation is only 3~5cm in diameter.
(2) It is difficult to perform conformable ablation for large tumors.
(3) There is no reliable scientific basis for evaluations of curative effect after RFA treatment.
(4) The long handle makes it inconvenient, even impossible, to locate under CT guide for fat patients.
(5) The time to locate is too long
After nearly a decade of research, Beijing Welfare Electronics Co. has broken through in a number of directions by developing a new generation of ablation electrode which is named Conformable Electrode.

(1) Conformable ablation can be performed.
(2) The demand of aim taking can be reduced.

(1) Major RF energy can be delivered to the margin of the tumor. A “pancake-like ” lesion shape can be performed . By piling these “pancakes” different three-dimensional lesion areas can be formed. (1) There is no cutting effect on tissue (blood vessel, nerve).
(2) No pneumothorax would happen for treatment of
lung tumor.

For previously used ablation electrodes, the handle is usually longer than
14cm or 15cm. The long handle makes it inconvenient, even impossible, to
locate under CT guide for fat patients. The length of handle of the
conformable electrode is only 7cm, which makes it very convenient for
using CT guidance.
