〃JukkaVuori&JussiSilvonen"Thebenefitsofapreventivejobsearchprogramonre-employmentandmentalhealthat2-yearfollow-upfromJournalofOccupationalandOrganizationalPsychology(2005),78,43-52"Participants.Atotalof1,230individualswhowereunemployedjobseekers(N=1153),orhadreceivedaterminationnoticeandweresearchingforajob(N=77)betweenSeptember1996andJune1997,participatedinthisexperimentalfieldstudy.Tobecomeparticipants,therespondentshadtoagreetotherandomizationprocedureofthestudy,andtoturninthebaselineassessmentquestionnaire(T1).Theageoftherespondentsvariedfrom18to61yearsofage(M=37.0;SD=8.6).Ofthetotalsample77.8%werewomenand22.2%weremen.Atthetimeofrecruitment,themeandurationofunemploymentwas10.7months(SD=17.3;Mdn=months),and28%oftheparticipantshadbeenunemployedfor12monthsorlonger.Threeparticipantsreportingextensivelylongunemploymentofover10yearswereomittedfromthedataasoutliers.Thosewhovolunteeredforourstudywerebettereducated,andmoreoftenwerewomen,thantheaverageunemployedworkersinthestudyarea(fordetails,seeVuorietal.,2002).Therespondentswererandomlyassignedintoanexperimental(N=629)andcontrolgroup(N=632).ThoserandomizedintotheexperimentalgroupwereinvitedtoparticipateintheTyo"ho"nworkshop.Thecontrolsreceivedprintedinformationthatcoveredtheinterventioncontent.Afollow-up(T2)wasconductedusingmailedselfadministeredquestionnaires2weeksaftertheintervention.Laterfollow-upswereconducted6months(T3),and2years(T4)aftertheintervention.JobsatisfactionJobsatisfactionwasevaluatedatbothT1forthelastjobbeforebecomingunemployed,andatT4forthenewjobofthere-employed.Jobsatisfactionwasmeasuredwitha9-itemscalecompiledforthisstudy(a(T1)=.83,anda(T4)=.85).Theitemsincludedthefollowingquestions:Howsatisfiedare/wereyouwithyourworkmates,Howsatisfiedare/wereyouwithyourworkplaceingeneral,Howsatisfiedare/wereyouwithyourworktasks,Howsatisfiedare/wereyouwithyoursalary,Howsatisfiedare/wereyouwithyourcareerpossibilities,Howsatisfiedare/wereyouwithsafetyatyourwork,Howsatisfiedare/wereyouwiththepossibilitiesofusingyourskillsHowsatisfiedare/wereyouwithvarietyatyourwork.Eachitemwasmeasuredwitha5-pointLikertscale,from1=veryunsatisfied,to5=verysatisfied.UnemployedworkershadamissingvalueforT4jobsatisfaction.BEINGDIFFERENT:RELATIONALDEMOGRAPHYANDORGANIZATIONALATTACHMENT.AnneS.Tsui,TerriEganandCharlesO'ReillyIII我对所从事工作的发展前途很满意。我对我的同事很满意。我对我的主管领导很满意。我对我目前的薪酬待遇很满意。我对我在公司中的晋升机会很满意。我对我目前的工作很满意。
