To whom it may concern
Dear Sir or Madam:
Thank you very much for taking time off your busy schedule to look at my application letter.
thMy name is Zheng Sheng, male, born on March 18, 1988 in Yunnan Province, in China.
You can search my name Zheng Sheng in Baidu or Google to see about my plans to ride to London. Please help me achieve my dream of 23-year-old, ride to London, the first step of my travels around the world. Some local newspapers also reported my ride to London's plans. I will write a book to record my journey in this time, and filming a documentary to share with others.
I graduated from University of Shanghai For Science and Technology in July, 2010. Now I am on my plan of riding though Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Germany, The Kingdom of Netherlands, Belgium, France and UK. I have started bicycle travelling after Sichuan earthquake in the year of 2008.And I have ridden around China during the summer and winter holidays of my last four years. Hereby, is some of my experience. In the year 2006, I witnessed my smooth enrollment in this university, Which is a very famous university in my country, where I am majoring in Industrial Design. When I was a freshman, I joined the Red Cross as a volunteer. It was tough at the beginning, nobody listened to the words from the mouth of a boy from the countryside. But in the past over four years, their minds have been totally changed by my enthusiasm and action. Helping the handicapped children with their learning, reading books for deaf kids, teaching them of exercises became my daily life. My ream members were moved by my kind heart, more and more of them had followed me to become excellence volunteers. Not only in my school, but also in the whole Shanghai City, my team is famous for our generous and enthusiasm. My efforts got rewards, I was voted as the president of my school Red Cross in the next year and monitor of my class. But more responsibilities and challenges loaded thon me. One day after the may, 12 2008 of Sichuan earthquake, I organized volunteers
and raised a whip-round of 740,000 RMB within just one week. That very seven days,I organized a team to gather trivial money even from Sichuan. Everyday we worked till deep night. I checked every amount of bundles of tiny cents and deposited it into the account of Red Cross. The teller of the bank was surprised by our movements. I felt released when I got all these done.
The quake becomes my motivate to take a ride through my country thereafter. I that time just wanted to see with my own eyes what it is look like after the disaster in Sichuan. I wanted to be there without any modern transportation. During the following 19 days, I rode through 2,700km, across Jiangsu, Anhui, Henan, Shanxi, Sichuan provinces, and threached my destination on 6 August that year.
The trip shocked me with the beauty of my mother country, made me decide to cycling throughout China. But the fist problem that came up to me was who will pay for my dream? It will cost me quite a lot of expenses. I don't want to turn to parents for money. Then I began to work during my free time, I have started to trading computers, books to students and even eggs were gotten in my eye, I tried very hard and got a professional insurance permitting certificate. With such a great effort, I finally accumulated enough money for my ride successfully. And I myself paid for my dream. With the money I made
from my part-time job. I completed the bicycle traveling to Jinggangshan, located in Jiangxi province in the summer holiday of my junior year and then to Lhasa in my senior year. The attached map shows you my rote. Total of it is more than 7,000 km~covered
almost half of China.
The experiences of riding all through China and trying the effort to get my dream come true have greatly enriched my school life. They improved my communication ability, cultivated my courage, made me a lot of marvelous friends and the most important thing is that I completed the whole trip all by myself, I stick to my plan till the end. I got addicted to cycling around the world, thinking about my life. I have a dream to travel around the world when I was a child. Now, I want to achieve it to follow my heart, at the same time to urge everyone for low carbon and environmental value. I set London as my first th, February in 2011 from Shanghai, cross destination. And I decide start at 20
Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France and the UK. There are about 15722 kilometers, and it will take me about 150 days, I got tremendous support from my friends and my teachers.
