same sc; sc in front loops of next 25 (27, 27) sc; turn – 26
(28, 28) sc
Row 2: Sc in first sc and in each st across; turn.
Row 3: Skip first sc; sc in next sc and in each sc across to
last 2 sc; skip next sc;, sc in last sc – 24 (26, 26) sc.
Row 4-6: Repeat Row 2.

Row 1: With wrong side facing, join yarn in back loop of
Row 1 of brim top; ch1, sc in back loop of same sc; sc in
back loops of next 25 (27, 27) sc – 26 (28, 28) sc.
Rows 2-12 (13, 13): Repeat pattern for brim top. Fasten
off.
With right side facing, join yarn in Row 1 of brim bottom;
ch1, sc in same sc; work 10 (11, 11) sc evenly across
right side of brim bottom; sc in each of next 16 (18, 18)
sc across front of brim bottom; work 11 (12, 12) sc evenly
across left side of brim bottom. Fasten off; weave in loose
ends – 38 (42, 42) sc.
Hat band
Row 1: Ch 6; sc in second ch from hook; sc in each ch
across; turn – 5 sc.
Row 2: Sc in each sc across.
Row 3-76 (3-80, 3-84): Repeat Row 2. Rows can be
increased or decrease to fit around the base of the hat.
With right side facing, sew hat band side seam. Weave in
loose ends.
FiNiSHiNG
Place hat band on base of the hat and sew around bottom
of band; tack front and back of band to hat along the top of
band.
Using Brim as a template, cut a piece of heavy-weight
interfacing or margarine tub to same dimensions. Place
piece between layers of Brim and sew Brim closed. Weave
in ends.
