At that time, the policy of protection had been replaced by the policy of assimilation. The children of mixed-race had to be taken away from their parents to be placed in church-run institution. Summary of the story A lady named Ashley Sarah was going to persuade her husband into selling the cattle station in Australia and going back to England, But only to find that her husband has dead.At the first mind,she planned to sell the station as soon as possible ,but when she met a innocent and lovely boy ,named Nallah ,she changed her mind for protecting this little boy. In this way ,she turned against Neil who was the powerful businessman in this area. At that time she had to got 1,500 heads of cattle up to Darwin Harbor to sell them to the army. With no experience, she asked Drover to help her who was a strong man helping others take care of cattle.Nallah’s grandfather, King George, knew how to survive in any circumstances. Having met a lot of difficulties, they succeeded. As the days went by, Sarah and Drover fell in love with each other. It was the time when they could enjoy life, but the Drover chose to be himself and left Sarah. Then ,in 1941,Nalluh and King George was taken into prison because of their Aborigine status. At the same time, Japan attacked Darwin Harbor. All people were in danger, and Sarah, Nullah and Drover was very worried about each other. When the war was ended, they lived together happily. The last word of the film is‘the most important thing in the world is to cherish the people around you forever. Analysis on the theme This film shows the beautiful landscape in Australia to us, which is a very attracting. I think main themes are peace, race segregation and great love.first,everyone should value our peace life, because life in war time is too miserable. Secondly, in my view, everyone is equal and we shouldn't look down upon other races, no matter the rich or the poor, the white or the black. Third, true love is precious. We should learn to how to love others with our heart. Introduction of the director and the cast This film was directed by Baz Luhrmann, who is good at romantic song and dance. We can always find the theme of love in his film. The main actress is Nicole Mary Kidman. She was born in Hawaii thbut her original family home is in Australia. She won the 75 Oscar for best actress. The main actor is Hugh Jackman who was born in Sydney. He was selected to be one of the most handsome man by a famous magazine.
