They contain polysaccharide, saponins and fl avonids, etc.，which shift the im- mune ability of organism, impro ve the heart and lungs function, stre ngthen heart contractile force ，ex- pand the blood vessel , lower the blood pre ssure ，eff iciency of slowing aging etc. Astragalus L. will be ill ustrated from the aspects of biological characteri stic, re sources, chromosome karyotype, chemical com- position and ?armacology function in this study.
