It is subordinated to the Department of Commerce of Jiangxi Province and specializes in international business and foreign languages. In the early 1995's, the college was noted as "The International Economic and Foreign Trade Talents Training Center" by the UNESCO. It has been engaged in cultivating numerous talents who are equipped with higher command of English using skills and rich foreign trade knowledge. Most of them are highly reorganized by working as the higher management in southern region of China. The college has been granted with the honorary title of "The Base to Train Talents of Foreign Trade Economy for Jiangxi Province". It celebrated its "training base opening ceremony" in March,2006 . It is also one of the reorganized training bases of the large scale training for the leading cadres of the business administrative authorities from the prefecture-level cities in China. In April,2009, the college was listed as the co-construction college of Jiangxi People's Government and the Business Ministry which is now also the only higher vocational type co-construction college in Jiangxi province. In the same year in May, it also was listed as the demonstrative higher vocational college for the first batch with approved projects. In May,2010, it was granted with the title of "the Seminar Base for the International Ministry of Commerce Officials" for the first batch. The college consists of seven major managing departments and they are International Business Dept., English Dept., Foreign Language Dept., Information Management, Business Administration and International Accounting, etc. with more than 31 majors such as business English, business Japanese, applied German, applied Korean, international business, international accounting, international logistics management, E-commerce, cost of engineering construction, etc. There are 12000 students on campus and more than 700 faculty members among which 450 are full-time teachers with Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree, 134 with senior professional title, about 100 teachers with double professional qualifications, 3 province-level star teachers, 5 province-level backbone teachers and12 international teachers. Another 100 teachers with practical working experiences have been hired as part-timers and guest professors. Three years in a row, the college has been confirmed the title" Provincial Civilized Unit" by the People's Government of Jiangxi Province. It has also been granted with the title "Advanced Unit in the National Economy and Trade Organizations" by the Industries Advisory Committee in the Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation P.R. China. Seminar / Training Course Content Commissioned by the Ministry of Commerce, Jiangxi College of Foreign Studies will be undertaking “Seminar for principals of primary and high schools in African English-speaking countries” during November 29,2010 to December 19,2010, in Nanchang of Jiangxi Province. This seminar will be last for twenty one days and the seminar course language is English. This seminar will adopt with several kinds of methods and contents, including: Introduction of educational situation of primary and high schools in China combining with listening to the introduction of educational situation in participants’ countries; Theory discussion combining with diagnosis of practical problems in school; Classroom instruction combining with field trips; Chinese basic national conditions; Chinese educational development situation, Chinese basic educational reform and development; Introduction for current educational situation of primary and high schools in China, General description for development of Jiangxi province’s basic education; Contemporary society and education; Principal’s leadership and execution, etc. During the seminar, the participants will be arranged field trips and teaching observation in visiting Nanchang No.2 middle school、Nanchang foreign studies school、Yuxing primary school、Xiwang primary school and other different style schools. Furthermore, we will arrange the participants to visit Shanghai.By this way, not only the participants can understand more easily what they learned but Chinese achievements in economy、society、education、culture and other areas after reforming can be publicized as well. Following this way, the cooperation and exchanges between China and Africa will be strengthened.
