ajorcontributorstotheindustrialelectromagneticenvironmentandassuchdistinguishtheindustrialfromotherenvironments.Warning.InordertoallownormalmarketequipmenttooperateinproximitytoISMequipmenttheexternalradiationfromISMequipmentmayhavetobelimitedorspecialmitigationmeasurestaken.6PerformancecriteriaThevarietyandthediversityoftheapparatuswithinthescopeofthisdocumentmakesitimpossibletodefineprecisecriteriafortheevaluationoftheimmunitytestresults.Apparatusshallnotbecomedangerousorunsafeasaresultoftheapplicationofthetestsdefinedinthisstandard.Afunctionaldescriptionandadefinitionofperformancecriteria,duringorasaconsequenceoftheEMCtesting,shallbeprovidedbythemanufacturerandnotedinthetestreport,basedonthefollowingcriteria:PerformancecriterionA:Theapparatusshallcontinuetooperateasintended.Nodegradationofperformanceorlossoffunctionisallowedbelowaperformancelevelspecifiedbythemanufacturer,whentheapparatusisusedasintended.Theperformancelevelmaybereplacedbyapermissiblelossofperformance.Iftheminimumperformancelevelorthepermissibleperformancelossisnotspecifiedbythemanufacturertheneitherofthesemaybederivedfromtheproductdescriptionanddocumentationandwhattheusermayreasonablyexpectfromtheapparatusifusedasintended.2)asdefinedinEN55011,ISMclassA.CopyrightBritishStandardsInstitutionProvidedbyIHSunderlicensewithBSINotforResaleNoreproductionornetworkingpermittedwithoutlicensefromIHS--``,,-`-`,,`,,`,`,,`---EN50082-2:1995©BSI10-19985Figure1PerformancecriterionB:Theapparatusshallcontinuetooperateasintendedafterthetest.Nodegradationofperformanceorlossoffunctionisallowedbelowaperformancelevelspecifiedbythemanufacturer,whentheapparatusisusedasintended.Theperformancelevelmaybereplacedbyapermissiblelossofperformance.Duringthetest,degradationofperformanceishoweverallowed.Nochangeofactualoperatingstateorstoreddataisallowed.Iftheminimumperformancelevelorthepermissibleperformancelossisnotspecifiedbythemanufacturertheneitherofthesemaybederivedfromtheproductdescriptionanddocumentationandwhattheusermayreasonablyexpectfromtheapparatusifusedasintended.PerformancecriterionC:Temporarylossoffunctionisallowed,providedthelossoffunctionisselfrecoverableorcanberestoredbytheoperationofthecontrols.7ConditionsduringtestingThetestsshallbemadeinthemostsusceptibleoperatingmodeinthefrequencybandsbeinginvestigatedconsistentwithnormalapplications.Theconfigurationofthetestsampleshallbevariedtoachievemaximumsusceptibility.Iftheapparatusispartofasystem,orcanbeconnectedtoauxiliaryapparatus,thentheapparatusshallbetestedwhileconnectedtotheminimumrepresentativeconfigurationofauxiliaryapparatusnecessarytoexercisetheportsinasimilarmannertothatdescribedinEN55022.Incaseswhereamanufacturersspecificationspecificallyrequiresexternalprotectiondevicesormeasureswhichareclearlyspecifiedintheusersmanual,thenthetestrequirementsofthisstandardshallbeappliedwiththeexternalprotectiondevicesormeasuresinplaceunlessthemanufacturerspecifiesthatforaparticulartestorteststheyarenotrequired.Theconfigurationandmodeofoperationduringthetestsshallbepreciselynotedinthetestreport.Itisnotalwayspossibletotesteveryfunctionoftheapparatus,insuchcasesthemostcriticalmodeofoperationshallbeselected.Iftheapparatushasalargenumberofsimilarportsorportswithmanysimilarconnections,thenasufficientnumbershallselectedtosimulateactualoperatingconditionsandtoensurethatallthedifferenttypesofterminationarecovered.Thetestsshallbecarriedoutwithintheoperatingrangesoftemperature,humidityandpressurespecifiedfortheproductandattheratedsupplyvoltage,unlessotherwiseindicatedinthebasicstandard.8ProductdocumentationIfthemanufacturerisusinghisownspecificationforanacceptablelevelofEMCperformanceordegradationofEMCperformanceduringorafterthetestingrequiredbythisstandard,thenthisspecificationshallbemadeavailableuponrequest.9ApplicabilityTheapplicationoftestsforevaluationofimmunityshalldependontheparticularapparatus,itsconfiguration,itsports,itstechnologyanditsoperatingconditions.TestsareappliedtotherelevantportsoftheapparatusaccordingtoTable1toTable6.Testsshallonlybecarriedoutwheretherelevantportsexist.Itmaybedeterminedfromconsiderationoftheelectricalcharacteristicsandusageofaparticularapparatusthatsometestsareinappropriateandthereforeunnecessary.Insuchacaseitisrequiredthatthedecisionandjustificationnottotestshallberecordedinthetestreport.CopyrightBritishStandardsInstitutionProvidedbyIHSunderlicensewithBSINotforResaleNoreproductionornetworkingpermittedwithoutlicensefromIHS--``,,-`-`,,`,,`,`,,`---EN50082-2:19956©BSI10-1998Theindustrialenvironmentmaybechangedbyspecialmitigationmeasures.Wheresuchmeasurescanbeshowntoproduceanelectromagneticenvironment
