For each question, there are four choices marked A, B, C and D. You should choose the best answer. Then mark the corresponding Letter on the Answer Sheet with a. single line through the center. Passage One Questions 36 to 40 are based on the following passage. You have been badly injured in a car accident. It is necessary to give you a blood transfusion (输血) because you lost a great deal of blood in the accident. However, special care must be taken in selecting new blood for you. If the blood is too different from your own, the transfusion could kill you. There are four basic types of blood: A, B, AB and O. A simple test can show a person's blood type. Everybody is born with one of these four types of blood. Blood type, like hair color and height, is received from parents. Because of substances (物质) contained in each type, the four groups must be transfused carefully. Basically, A and B cannot be mixed. A and B cannot receive AB, but AB may receive A or B. O can be given to any other group, hence, it is often called the universal donor (万能输血者). For the opposite reason, AB is sometimes called the universal recipient. However, because so many reactions can happen in transfusions, patients usually receive only salt or plasma (血浆) until their blood can be matched as exactly as possible in the blood bank of a hospital. In this way, it is possible to keep away from any bad reactions to the transfusions. There is a relationship between your blood type and your nationality. Among Europeans and people of European ancestry (祖先), about 42% have type A while 45% have type O. The rarest is type AB. Other-races have different percentages (比率). For example, some American Indian groups have nearly 100 % of type O. C 36. A good title for this passage is A. Getting Blood and Plasma B. Special Blood Colors . C. Human Blood Types D. In our daily lives we need to communicate with one another. We do this mostly by speaking to other people and listening to what they say to us, and when we are close to them we can do it very easily. However, our voices will not travel very far even when we shout. The telephone was invented by Alexander Graham Bell, a Scotsman who was born in 1847. On June 2nd, 1875, he heard the first sounds from the other end of a piece of an electric wire. Some months later, he spoke the first words ever to be sent over a distance by electricity. Although Bell had made the first telephone, at first none seemed interested. He showed his instrument at an exhibition but it was regarded as no more than a toy. Fortunately for Bell, the King of Brazil happened to pass by and heard of his invention, When the King heard Bell's voice on the receiver, he dropped the instrument in surprise and cried, "It talks." Next day Bell's invention was famous. Another inventor, Thomas Edison, helped to make Belt's telephone even more practical. D 51. Which sentence is the right statement? A. Before the telephone was invented, we couldn't communicate with others. D. Now we can communicate with others by speaking even though we are far away.
