There are several reasons why I have decided to attend Xingxing University next year. First of all, there is the question of money. Xingxing’s tuition is reasonable, and I don’t even have to pay it all at once. This is very important, since my father is not a rich man. With Xingxing’s deferred payment plan, my father will be able to pay my tuition without too much difficulty. The second reason is the fine education which I feel I will receive there in agriculture, my chosen field. It is a well-known fact that Xingxing hires only the finest professors in its Agriculture Department. Moreover, the University requires all agricultural students to gain practical experience by working on farms in the area while they are still at school.

A résumé is a summary of one’s work experience, education and interest. The purpose of a résumé is to give a potential employer a brief but positive overview of one’s qualifications for a job. Résumé 简 历
1. A résumé is divided into several sections. The major headings are likely to be Personal Information, Education, Experience, and References, under which may be used any subheading needed. To decide on the system of headings, jot down as rough notes all the facts to be covered, and then work out a plan of headings to cover them. Arrange the material on the page so it has a pleasant appearance, and make it as neat and accurate as possible.

Al Smith became governor of New York State. One day, he went to visit the state prison. The head of the prison asked Mr. Smith to say something to the prisoners, but Mr. Smith didn’t know how to greet this kind of audience. Finally, he said, “My dear fellow citizens,” then he remembered that when a man goes to prison, he is no longer a citizen. Mr. Smith changed his greeting into “My dear fellow prisoners,” But that didn’t sound right either. So he said, “Well, anyway. I’m glad to see so many of you here today.”

Part II Listening Practice
Some people seem to be better at learning languages. They can pick up new vocabulary, master rules of grammar, and learn to write in the new language more quickly than others. They do not seem to be any more intelligent than others, so what makes language learning so much easier for them? Perhaps if we take a close look at these successful language learners we may discover a few of the techniques which make language learning easier for them.
First of all, successful language learners are independent learners. They do not depend on the book or the teacher; they discover their own way to learn the language. Instead of waiting for the teacher to explain, they try to find the patterns and the rules for themselves. They are good guessers who look for clues and form their own conclusions. When they guess wrong, they guess again. They try to learn from their mistakes.
B-4 Script
Listening and Speaking
Part II Listening Practice
Successful language learning is active learning. Therefore, successful learners do not wait for a chance to use the language; they look for such a chance. They find people who speak the language and they ask these people to correct them when they make a mistake. They will try anything to communicate. They are not afraid to repeat what they hear or to say strange things; they are willing to make mistakes and try again. When communication is difficult, they can accept information that is inexact or incomplete. It is more important for them to learn to think in the language than to know the meaning of every word.
Finally, successful language learners are learners with a purpose. They want to learn the language because they are interested in it and the people who speak it. It is necessary for them to learn it in order to communicate with these people and to learn from them. They find it easy to practice using the language regularly because they want to learn with it.
