1 Good morning/afternoon ladies and gentlemen: My name is...(CHN), you can call me...(ENG), I am from...(school). I am very happy to be here to talk about Winter Olympic Games. Winter Olympics will be held in Beijing and Zhangjiakou in 2022. I will briefly introduce Curling here. Curling is a sport in which players slide stones on a sheet of ice towards a target area which is divided into four concentric circles. It is related to bowls, boules and shuffleboard. Two teams, each with four players, take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones, across the ice curling sheet towards the house, a circular target marked on the ice. Each team has eight stones. The purpose is to accumulate the highest score for a game; points are scored for the stones resting closest to the centre of the house at the conclusion of each end. It will be completed when both teams have thrown all of their stones. A game usually consists of eight or ten ends. The playing surface or curling sheet is a rectangular area of ice, carefully prepared to be as flat and level as possible, also the curling stone and curling broom are needed. The players have to wear specially-made sports shoes and pants to assure their safety. Moreover, curling gloves and mittens, to keep the 1 2 hands warm and improve grip on the broom.
