Instructions for Uploading Manuscripts for Electronic Review
In the Manuscript Central Submission Center, “Author Dashboard”, you will upload all of your files associated with your manuscript submission to create a folder of original files for production and a folder of files for the reviewers to see. A pictorial of sorts of each of your steps is illustrated below.
This is where you will begin to make selections that are important for your paper to be properly
received and reviewed. Select your Publication, put in your Title (remember if it is an ASHRAE
Research Project you must include the RP# in the title), and an Abstract.
Screens 2-5 are self explanatory.
Below is Screen 6 – The File Upload screen. This is where you will upload all your files and make the appropriate “File Designations.” The appropriate File Designation will automatically place the file in the proper location on the website.
Authors’ List – Mandatory
File Designation: Author List
Agreement to Publish Form – Mandatory
File Designation: ATP form
Paper (text should be as a .doc or .rtf, which will be converted to .pdf format)
File Designation: Main Document
Figures (for review, include in the text of the main document – Note: in the FINAL
SUBMISSION, add figs to the end of the text file and save each one separately in a .tif or .eps format (600 dpi or greater) See “Instructions for creating Images from Word or Excel” for more detail.
File Designation: Hi-Res Graphic
Tables & Equations (should always be in the text of the document and not submitted as images)
Some guidelines for all users:
1. When uploading figures, please make sure they are readable. Many figures contain
minuscule characters such as numbers on a chart or graph. If these characters are not
easily readable, they will most likely be illegible in the .pdf created by the system.
2. Please use simple filenames when saving all your documents and avoid special
characters such as [brackets], (parentheses), punctuation marks (?, !), and symbols such
as @, #, &, and %.
3. Avoid spaces in your filenames: instead of “Figure 1 Author.tif,” save your files as
“Figure1.tif.”
4. Remember to click “Upload Files” before going to the Next screen.
On the File Details screen, save the files you uploaded if they are correct, before proceeding.
Note: You will be able to view all files uploaded under “My Files.”
