At the beginning of the play ,WILL portrayed a deadbeat living by his father's property . Having succeeded heritages, he spent it on entertaining , chasing women ,and had accomplished nothing with these money . He then made women believe that he was a single man on popurse to get girs' love and sympathy and join in . But , in fact , he also felt lonely and depressed ,just like a island . Marcus , a 12 year- old boy who was always bullied and mocked by his classmates due to his mother 's attempt of suicide , but failed , was melancholy and disconsolate . His mom , Fiona tried to suicide by overdosing on the day when she met Will ,a handsome and charming man . The little boy loved WILLso much that arranging dates for his mother and WILL . After a picnia with WILL ,he comes to feel close to him and trusted he and later on MARCUS often paid uninvited visits to WILL's . There they watched TV ,and accasionally chatted ,killing time , re lieving his loneliness and pain . Despite the age diffenence between the little boy and the big boy , they developed increasingly a frendship . At then ,WILL started to notice the pressure and loneliness suffered by MARCUS . From then on ,WILl did his best to help this kid build up his self - confidence in every respects . He evev had accompanyed with the boy singing a song "killing me softly " by playing a fool in a school auditorium to keep he from feeling lonely . Thus , WILL found what he wanted to do with his life and know where he was going ,and become less self-obsessed , his greatest victory is that true love with a single woman . To our joy ,MARCUS got away from depession and more happier ,enjoyed his life . The story is moving , and come to a happy ending. I think that maybe everyone is alone and lonely in their hearts ,but we each can gain happiness by opening up .
