Review of The Notebook
--- Love can create miracles
“In your life, there will at least one time that you forget yourself for someone, asking for no result, no ownership nor love. Just ask for meeting you in my most beautiful years. ”I have seen this sentence in micro blog and it brought the notebook to my mind.
This movie is based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks. The lovers in the film are named Allie Nelson and Noah Calhoun. As old people they're played by Gina Rowland and James Garner. As young people, they were played by Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling. In their old age, Allie is suffering from Alzheimer, so, to stir her memories, Noah reads a notebook everyday that tells the story of how they met and fell in love and faced obstacles to their happiness. As the film goes on, the beautiful and romantic scenes are shown to us: the person rows a boat under the soft music, the beautiful birds on the wing, the river shone by the setting sun, and the white house stand by the riverside….
When I was addicted to this beautiful picture, the hero’ steadfast love was affecting me so much. When Noah shown his love to Allie, he said “I can be fun if you want…pensive, uh, superstitious, brave. And uh…I can be light on my feet. I could be whatever you want. You just tell me what you want and I’ll be that for you.” Of course, when we fall in love with someone, we will forget ourselves just for win the heart of him or her. Noah is just a common man with common thoughts, he have lived a common life. And his name will soon be forgotten. But in one respect, he have been fortunate than anyone. He has loved a person with all his heart and soul.
Their love creates miracles. Generally, there is no happy ending between a rich girl and a poor guy. But in this film, the hero and heroine have surmounted mundane views and made a happy ending although she’s a rich kid, summering at the family's mansion in North Carolina. He's a local kid who works at sawmills but is smart and poetic. Her parents are snobs. In the other hand, after a longtime parting, they still hold their love and lived together finally. Are those miracles? What’s more, the notebook---symbol of their love brought the heroine Allie who was suffering from Alzheimer back to Noah each time and took them away together. It is also a miracle. In a conclusion, love can do anything they want it to.
For me, it is not a tearjerker but a special experience that makes me believe love. It is also a film that help the person who already fell in love with someone find the common objective and forces the people who ever loved others to reflect on the past love. As the Chinese proverb said :For life or for death, however separated, to our wives we pledged our word. We held their hands; --- We are to grow old together with them.
