AmongsomanypopidolsinHongKong’s musicindustry,thebandBeyond,continuously provedthemselvesoverandoverthatwhata typicalpopbanditwas.Beingtheonlyone HongKongbandtomadethetransition(过渡) fromundergroundmusicwithaloyalfollowingto mainstream (主流)success,Beyondsometimes wascalledthe“Beatles(甲壳虫乐队)”ofHong Kong.BecauseoftheeffortsofBeyond’sgreat leadsingerandsongwriter,WongKaKui, Beyondwasconsideredanalternative(二中择一 的)rockormetalrockband,makingmusicabout humanrights,politics, peaceand protests, and Beyond also recorded pop-rock songs and love ballads.Beyonddid notinitially(最初) dreamofhavinggreat success in mind. Theystartedoffplayingmusicasahobby,but thehobbysoonturnedintoaprofessionwhen theyfoundouttheywerehavingtroublemaking aliving.Aftertheyknewit,theystartedtohold concertsandsoonbecauseoftheirexcellent performances,theywerelovedbymanyfans.
