动词 ing形式作表语,可以相当于一个名词(动名词),也可相当于一个形容词 (分词)。

1. 表示被修饰词的某种用途。可以换成 a…used for…如:
a walking stick =a stick used for walking
a washing machine=a machine used for washing
a reading room=a room used for reading

null2. 与被修饰词是主动关系,表动作正在进行或状态的持续,在意义上相当于一个定语从句。
