Copping with Stress
A: I just lie awake in bed, it annoyed me much.
C: Why? What are you worried about?
A: Yeah. I have a speech competition tomorrow, everything is ready, but I still feel
nervous.
C: I have met this experience. Before the speech, my heart was beat very quickly. but you said you have made full preparation, so I think the best way is take a deep breath and calm down yourself. Then you could have a good sleep.
AI: Do you have a stressful experience,
B: yes, of course. I still remember the day before the university entrance examination, the atmosphere in my class is very nervous. Because we are the students study for an extra year,we were afraid we can’t have a good examination scores again. So all the people there were study hard and little rest. It almost takes my breath away. I don’t
know that how I overcome it.
D: oh! Your experience reminds me of my memory. I remember it as if it happened yesterday. When I sat the university entrance examination, my father suddenly came to my school and waited outside the school gate for a long time. I didn’t know that until I finished my exam. Besides, I didn’t finish my paper, so I burst into tears at once. I felt stressful and guilty. My father just comforted me, and told me that it’s enough to try my best!
C: Yeah. And I remembered at that time my father accompanied me from the beginning to the end. I was very nervous, but he gave me an awful lot encouragement. So, are you generally active or passive in dealing with stressful situations? A: I am also passive in dealing with stressful situations. Just a speech competition, I
feel so intension that I can’t get a grip on myself. I also need a long time to accept a new matter.
B: I think I am an active person in dealing with the stressful situations, especially in my work. I am not afraid of stress. As an old man said, where there is no stress, there is no success. Therefore, when I met some difficulties in the work, I will try my best to solve it. I really welcome the challenges. What about you, Susan?
D: as far as I’m concerned, it depends. When I come across some petty things, I would be energetic to face them. But when it comes to big challenge, or major issues, I will flinch. I just think I can’t deal with the important matter well. I will feel nervous and confused.
B: No matter how active or passive we are in dealing with stressful situations, we must have a special way to reduce our stress. So, have you had any stress-reducing
recommendations?
C: When meeting stressful situations, although I feel some worried, I think I would not be defeated by them. I will choose to sleep and then forget it at that moment. After waking I will energetic again and have more energy to handle the stressful things. A: I prefer to talk to my friend. Talking about problems can sometimes help solve them, or at least make me feel better about them, because different person can give me their new ways of dealing with them.
D: I would choose to go shopping, because shopping can bring me a good mood, and then I will forget everything that confuses me.
B: oh! Maybe it’s really useful. Actually, we may meet a lot of stress in our daily life. No matter big or small, we will find a way to solve it. I believe that we can struggle through and everything will be better.
