Pro-tow Frames Manufacturer of CAR-A-TOW Towing Frames FRAME ATTACHMENT PROCEDURE Drive the car to the rear of the motor home and stop approximately 2 metres away. Release the car?s bonnet catch. Lay towing frame in front of the car, spread arms just beyond width of pull-bar. Remove rubber caps from end of pull-bar. Locate one arm over the corresponding side of the pull-bar, fit and lock linch pin (rubber washer must be in place against shoulder of pull-bar before locating arm). Locate other arm, fit and lock linch pin. Locate towing frame brake cable into fork fitting below pull-bar, fit and lock pin. Lift bonnet, push 7-pin plug into engine compartment socket (ensure 7-core cable is routed correctly) close bonnet. Move the car forward and locate the coupling onto the motor home tow-ball, make sure the cup is properly on the ball and the coupling is locked on. Push 7-pin plug into socket at rear of motor home. Attach safety breakaway cable. Go to rear of car to attach clip-on number plate. Now sit in driving seat:- Ensure front wheels of car are aligned in the direction the camper will pull away. Turn key to ignition position and then return to accessory position — checking that the steering lock is UNLOCKED (ensure key is removed from key ring and is placed in lock without any attachments). Check gear lever is in neutral and handbrake is off. Pump brake pedal several times to discharge vacuum in servo. Locate elastic cord from under driver?s seat and attach hook to brake pedal, ensuring there is enough tension to return pedal. Check lights on car. Now carry out the “Touch Check” starting at the front of the towing frame, double check all operations. Lock car door. Manufacturer of CAR-A-TOW Towing Frames GENERAL MAINTENANCE Apply “Wipe” of grease to tow ball and pull-bar ends as required. Apply „Wipe” of grease to inside of rubber pull-bar end caps as required. Pump grease into nipples on coupling (2 on top of coupling and I on brake operating lever) as required, at least once a year, perhaps at the beginning of the season. Wipe off excess grease after pumping with grease gun. We advise you DO NOT lubricate the brake cable fitted to the car. Oil will only attract dust and grit. Release the cable from the brake pedal, pull it through from each end and clean with a dry cloth.
