Notes:
1. Explanation: GA = Grundausführung (Basic Version)
2. Options already included from October 1, 2000, in the Basic Version of the SINUMERIK 840D
are marked in the table. Therefore, the specified MLFB (order no.) in (...) does not apply. From
SW 6, these bits will not be not checked.
3. Functions with option data $ON_CC_EVENT_MASK (MD 19600[.]=FF) are included
as compile cycles on the PC cards with NCU system software plus software version-specific
(technological) additional functions (technology PC cards).
4. Limitations for NCU 572.2 with SW 5.1/5.2/5.3:
The option "Each additional channel" (second channel) and the options "Punching and nibbling
functions/quadrant error compensation, automatically/measurement step 2/online ISO dialect
interpreter" are mutually exclusive (with 2 channels, a maximum of 8 axes is possible).
5. From October 1, 2000, the memory size of the option "Expansion of the CNC user memory"
was increased from 0.25 Mbyte to 0.5 Mbyte (Basic Version: 0.5 Mbyte, of which 0.25 Mbyte
for users). The Basic Version of the PLC user memory was increased from 64 Kbyte to 96 Kbyte.
The memory size of the option "Expansion of PLC user memory" was doubled from 32 Kbyte
to 64 Kbyte.
From October 1, 2003, the memory size of the option "Expansion of the CNC user memory"
was increased from 0.5 Mbyte to 1.0 Mbyte.
6. From SW 6.2, the option "Master-slave for drives" is not included any more on the technology PC
card, but as a function already in the NCU system software:
The option data change from CC_EVENT_MASK[2] 19600[0] to AXIS_FUNCTION_MASK 19310/4.
7. From SW 5.1, the option "Spline interpolation" includes the additional compressor COMPCURV:
With COMPCURV, the programmed linear axis motions are approached within the predetermined
axial tolerances by polynomials (using block transitions with constant curvature).
This way, acceleration jumps at block transitions are eliminated which may stimulate vibrations of the
machine.
8. "Electronic transfer" is used to control sequences of motions in press transfer systems
in relation to the punch position. This functionality unites several individual options:
"Limit signals/cam controller, polynomial interpolation, master value coupling and curve table
interpolation, cross-mode actions, I/O interface via PROFIBUS-DP,
synchronous actions step 2, pair of synchronized axes, additional positioning axis".
When using the option "Electronic transfer", the functions "Spindle" and
"Tool compensation" cannot be activated.
9. Renaming:
From SW 5.1, the option "Adaptive Control" 6FC5 251-0AB17-0AA0 is named "Evaluation
of internal drive variables (required for Adaptive Control)".
10. From SW 5.1, the following options are included in the Basic Version (GA) of the SINUMERIK 840D:
- Analog value control (6FC5 251-0AB05-0AA0)
- Fast data exchange NC-PLC (extracted from the option "Synchronous actions step 2"
(6FC5 251-0AD05-0AA0)
- Asynchronous subprograms (interrupt routines with rapid lifting from contour is a separate option
6FC5 251-0AA00-0AA0 with new MD/Bit: from SW 6.2, also interpolatory in 2 axes).
11. "Control unit management" can be used to operate up to 8 PCUs/MMCs (up to 9 from SW 6.2)
on up to 8 NCUs (up to 9 from SW 6.2) via active-passive displacement mechanisms.
In the Basic Version, up to 8 NCUs can be operated by one PCU/MMC. This option
is activated by an entry in the NETNAMES.INI file of the corresponding PCU/MMC.

15. The online tool length offset is used to change the effective tool lengths in real time so that these
length changes are also considered in tool orientation changes. This function is applicable
to orientation transformations (TRAORI) or orientable tool carriers (TCARR).
16. The natural frequency of the machine can have a detrimental effect on the maximum speed of the machine
and the surface characteristics of the workpieces. The APC option raises the KV factor, improves the
surface and therefore increases the productivity. APC requires implementation of High-Performance
closed-loop controls and additional direct measuring systems.
17. The "Multi-channel step sequence programming" option makes it easier to edit, navigate and
time-optimize multichannel workpiece programs. The steps in a part program can be visualized
either in the compensation block editor in the machine/simulation operating areas or in the
program editors of all operating areas.
18. With the option "Path length evaluation", with the SINUMERIK 810D powerline/840D powerline
from software version 6, data can be backed up in the controller that allows conclusions to be
drawn about the service status of the machine (e.g. total distance traversed, total traversing time,
number of traversing actions and total sum of jerks per axis).
19. The "Setpoint exchange" functions are included as option in the NCU system software version 7
and higher and need not be download as separate compile cycle.
The option data is then changed from CC_EVENT_MASK[5] to AXIS_FUNCTION_MASK 19310/5.
20. These two options are premiss for functions "ePS Condition Monitoring".
21. The "Analog axis" option is no longer included in the NCU system software,
