We found him seating in the classroom, watching TV. 句1中错误之处在seat 应改为 seated。句2中错误之处在seating 应改为seated 或 seating 后加 himself 。seat 作及物动词用时应 注意以下几点: 1. seat 示“使---就坐”、 “使----坐下”时，其宾语通常是指人的 名词、代词或与主语、宾语相应的反身代词。例如: 1) I tried to seat the baby in the chair ,but I failed. 2) Seating myself ,I began to read. 3) I saw a child seating himself alone under a tall tree, reading English aloud. 2. 在祈使句中或没有反身代词作其宾语的情况下，则用 be seated . 例如: 1) Beseated，please。(= Sit down ,please). 2) He was seated there ,with his back to us. 3) Please remain seated until the aircraft has come to a halt. 3. 在作补足语的情况下，则应根据需要，用 seat 的过去分词或其它 形式。例如: 1)What surprised me most was to see some of the people seated on the 1 chair at the end of the room. 2)He was found seating himself behind the desk. 4. seat 还可以表示“能坐---人”、“能供给---座位”等意思，此时句 子主语是表示地方的名词，而不是人。例如: The aircraft can seat 200 passengers. 请比较下列句子: 误: She is seating there. 正: She is sitting there. She is seated there. She is seating herself there. 误: I saw her seating by the fire. 正: I saw her sitting by the fire. I saw her seated by the fire. I saw her seating herself by the fire. 误: He remained seating there. 正: He remained seated there. He remained sitting there. He remained seating himself there. 此外，seat 还可作名词用，意思是“座位、坐处、座部、席位、 所在地”等。例如; 1) He put his shopping on the seat behind him. 他把买的东西放在 身后的座位上。 2 2) Please take a seat (= sit down .) 请就坐。 3) There are no seats left on that flight .那次航班没座位了。 4) The majority of seats on the board will be held by business representatives. 理事会的多数席位将由工商界代表担任。 5) Washington is the seat of government of the US.华顺顿是美国政府所在地。 3
