After he graduated from university, he made lots of aims, but still get nothing after a few years. The wise man was reading when the young man arrived. He listened the young man’s words, said to him， ‘please boil a pot of water for me first.’ The young man saw that there was a big pot in the corner and beside is a little stove but no firewood. He picked some firewood from outside, fulfilled the pot and started to boil. But the pot is so big that the firewood is not enough. He had to go out for firewood again. When he got enough firewood, the water he boiled just now was almost cool. This time, he didn’t start to boil in a hurry but prepared enough firewood and then the water was boiled quickly. The wise man asked him, ‘how to boil the water if you don’t have enough firewood?’ The young man thought for a while, shaking his head, the wise man then said, ‘Then pour some water.’ The young man knot his head, the wise man went on, ‘you are confident at first and make too many aims, just like this pot, has too much water while you don’t have enough firewood, so you cannot boil the water. Pour some water or get enough firewood, then you can boil the water.’ The young man understood at once. He got rid of many aims in his list, only left the recent ones.
