Test Guide of Load Variation of Modulating Control System
1 Purpose
To inspect the ability of the modulating control system of the assembling unit to be adaptable to the variation in load.
2 Conditions
The assembling unit has already been at the full load and had the ability for safe and stable operation through the on-load commissioning, the functions of the coordinated control system have already been put into operation through test, all the modulating control systems have been entered into their unattended operation, the adjustment quality can meet the "Quality Inspection and Evaluation Criteria for the Adjustment and Trial Operation of Thermal Power Engineering", and the test shall be conducted under the normal working conditions of 70%~100%MCR.
3 Variation Range of the Load
The amplitude of the load variation in the load variation test is 15%MCR, and the actual variation rate of load is 3%MCR/min.
4 Recorded Main Parameters and Applied Instruments in the Test
4.1 Main parameters: Actual unit power, unit load command, main steam pressure, velocity-stage pressure, main steam temperature, reheat steam temperature, flow rate of boiler feed water, flow rate of main steam, water level in steam drum, oxygen content of fume, pressure of boiler chamber, aggregate coal supply quantity, water level of deaerator, water level of coagulator, and the water level of every heater.
4.2 Generally, for the data of every main parameter, the data and trend record are preceded by taking the transmitter for automatic control system through the decentralized control system or the certificated multiple-pen recorder.
5 Test Procedures
5.1 The automatic regulating loops of the following primary systems shall be operated gradually:
Main steam pressure regulating system
Boiler feedwater regulating system
Main steam temperature regulating system
Reheat steam temperature regulating system
Boiler chamber pressure regulating system
Air and oxygen supply quantity calibrating and regulating system
5.2 After the automatic control system of every loop works stably, the boiler-turbine coordination mode by the coordinated control system shall be carried out to calibrate the dynamic parameter.
5.3 The load variation test shall be carried out after the unit coordinated control operates stably.
5.3.1 The variation rate of load is set as 3%MCR/min.
5.3.2 The object load command of the unit shall be reduced in a step quantity of 15%MCR.
The load response condition shall be observed, the unit load and the variation data in all the parameters shall be recorded.
5.3.3 After the unit load and operation parameters are stable, the object load command of the unit shall be increased in a step quantity of 15%MCR. The load response condition shall be observed, the unit load and the variation data in all the parameters shall be recorded.
6 Evaluation

The criteria listed in the above table mainly are applicable to the home-made 300MW steam turbine-generator unit of the coal-fired drum boiler that is equipped with the direct-firing coal pulverizing system. As for the other types of units and the once-through boiler units, these listed criteria shall be adjusted appropriately depending on the physical circumstances.
