Sagittarius The constellation is a group of stars that forms a shape in the sky and has a name, also is the location of the projection on the celestial sphere which near the combination of stars. The Sagittarius, the archer, is one of the twelve constellations which is the 9th sign of the zodiac. Designed people who born between 22 November and 20 December, Sagittarius is one of the shiniest and biggest star in the summer night sky, ranking in 15th of the area. There are two mythologies about Sagittarius. The first one is tragic but believed by majority of people. Long time ago in ancient Greek, the strong and aggressive creatures, centaurs, are galloping on the grassland. The only exception Chiron is generous, kindly to people. Chiron learns a lot of knowledge and skills such as music and divination from God of Sun Apollo and Goddess of Moon Artemis. Meanwhile, he imparts knowledge to many students, including the Achilles, the hero of Trojan war, and Asclepius, the god of medicine, also the strongest man, Heracles, in the world. Therefore, Chiron is respected by people in the clan. However, one day the greatest hero Heracles, a man of unusual strength. He is exciting to hear of centaurs are well known for making wine. Driven by desire of alcohol, Heracles extorts the wine which is the public property of centaurs. When Heracles intoxicated in the wine, centaurs are resentful and harshly rebuke him. Consequently, Heracles is in a towering rage and decides to fight with centaur with other groups. Because Heracles is the strongest man in the world, centaur seek help from Chiron. Unfortunately, when Chiron comes out of his house, he shot by an arrow from Heracles. It is highly toxic and incurable, using to kill the Lernaean Hydra which is a serpent has many heads. Although Chiron is immortal, he has to endure the sharp pain forevermore. So he passes the eternal life to Prometheus, a god who steal fire for human survial. Zeus, the father of god, hear the grieved yelling from centaur and realized the tragedy. Zeus sadly holds up Chiron's corpse and throws up into the sky, suddenly Chiron's body becomes the countless shining stars. These stars form to centaur's shape soon afterwards. Since then, the constellation archer, which also is Sagittarius is set up in memory of Chiron. The second mythology of Sagittarius is similar to the first one with some additional information. Chiron is son of Cronus who is Zeus' father and Philyra, and he is a god who has the body of half-human and half-horse because get fright in the youth. Even though Chiron has the strange look result his mother becomes a linden, he is a highly intelligent man who excel in medicine, archery, and music. Many king send their sons to be students of Chiron, some famous students are Jason, Archilles, and Aeneas. From Greek Mythology, Sagittarius' arrow directing toward the chest of Scorpio. The archer is directing the way for Jason, a hero requests for the Golden Fleece. In addition, the ruler planet of Sagittarius is Jupiter, which represent the passion and power. The patron god of Sagittarius in Greece is Zeus and in Rome is Jupiter. To recognize the Sagittarius is not difficult, because it arrange as a teapot in the night sky and the center of the Miky Way is beside the archer. The best time period for people to make observation at Sagittarius is in August. The Sagittarius lying in the southern sky, and to its west is Scorpio and to its east is Capricornus. To its north is Ophiuchus, Scutum, and Serpens; to its south is a series of small constellations, which come from eighty-eight modern constellations. Furthermore, the constellation's observation originates from Babylonia, one of the four ancient civilization countries in the world. Babylonians observed alomost thirty constellations during 1000B.C. And at 2nd Century A.D. ancient Greek astronomer Ptolemy integrated the study of astronomic research and compile it to the forty-eight constellations. In the modern era, the International Astronomical Union officially published the name and location of the eighty-eight constellations, and divides it into three areas: twenty-nine in the northern hemisphere, forty-seven in the southern hemisphere, and twelve in the zodiac. The constellations are important signs for sailors or travelers to determine the direction. But with the improvements in science, the constellations mainly using by fans of astronomy to determine the bright star. For example, the summer triangle consist of Vega from Lyra, Deneb from Cygnus, and Altair of Aquila, is the most distinguished feature in the summer night sky. People can recognize the Sagittarius based on it. Moreover, the personal characteristics of each zodiac sign is a prevalent topic in Asia and Europe. A case in point is people who is Sagittarius are considered as optimistic, lively, frank, and have a strong self-respect. The shortcomings consider as fickle, vaunting, and lack the sense of responsibility. Their best matching mates are from Leo and Aries.
