Abstract:Differentpumpkinrootstockswereusedtostudytheeffectsofdifferentrootstocksonthegrowthandfruitqualityof
greenhousecucumberinearlyspring.Theresultsshowedthatthegraftedcucumbercouldsignificantlyimprovetheproduction,and
differentrootstockhadacertaineffectonthesurvivalrateandfruitquality.JinhuanghouandFengyijiajiewangasrootstockhadthe
highestsurvivalrate,whichwere79.O%and70.7%,respectively.Asrootstocksofgreenhousecucumber,Jinhuanghou,Lvzhoujuxing,
Fengyi,Huofenghuang,andDaweiNo.17werebetterthanothersaccordingtotaste,andHeizinangua,Jinhuanghou,Fengyi,
Huofenghuang,andDaweiNo.17werebetteraccordingtooutput.

lntroduction
ThecucumberiSoneofthemainvegetablesInestab—
lishmentcultivation.Withthedevelopmentofestab—
lishmentcultivation,relativelimitoflandresource,
andincreaseofconnectcultivationobstacles,thesoil-
spreaddiseasesofvegetablesbecomemoreandmore
serious.Therootstockgraftcanenhancefastnessto
manykindsofsoil—spreaddiseasesofcucumber,and
itiStheeffectivemethodtoovercometheconnect
cultivationobstaclesI11.Therootstockshavedeveloped
rootsystemandstrongabilitytoadaptingthelow
temperaturef21.Aftertherootsystemofcucumberis
replacedbydifferentrootstock,thegraftedseedlings
havestrongerabilityofabsorptionofwaterand
mineralnutrition.Differencetoproportionofminerals
absorptionbyrootsystem,theyieldandqualityof
graftedseedlingswouldbechanged吵
Intheexperiment,theplug·graftingmethodwas
usedtostudytheeffectsofdifferentpumpkinroot—
stocksonthegraftedcucumberinordertoselect
goodrootstockforgreenhouseproductionofnorthem
areainearlyspringandprovidereferenceforthe
productionofcucumber.
MaterialsandMethods
Therootstocksselectedsevenpumpkinvarieties,which
wereGeliahao,DaweiNo.10,DaweiNo.17,Huo—
fenghuang,Jinhuanghou,Fengyi,andLvzhoujuxing
respectively.ThecionwascucumberJinchunNo.2.
ThetreatmentcodesofgraftedseedlingswereGJ,
D10J,D1 7J,HOJ,JJ,FJ,andLJrespectively.The
non-graftedseedlingwithself-rootwascomparison1
(CKI),andthegraftedseedlingofHeizinanguaas
rootstockwascomparison2(CK2).
Thecionsandrootstocksweresowedrespectivelyin
greenhouseinJanuary2andJanuary4in2008.CK1
wassowedinJanuary15.Thecucumberseedswere

sowedinseedingplatebywaysofsandsowingaswell cucumberfruitsandaccordingtotheirfeelingsof
astherootstocksseedsweresowedinnutritionbowlmouthtodivideintofourranks(better,good,general,
with8cmx8cm.Whenthecotyledonofcucumber
flattenedandthefirstleafwas1 cm,theplug—grafting
wasusedtOgraft.CK1 replantedinnutritionbowl
with8crux8cmwhenthecotyledonflattened.We
selectedstrongself-rootseedlings(CK1)andgrafted
seedlingstoplantinthegreenhouseinFebruary28.
Eachtreatmentwas10plantswith37cmx60cm,
whichwasrandomlyarrangedwiththreerepetitions.
Wemanagedplantsnormally.
OnFebruary4(20daysaftergraftingorso),50
graftedseedlingsineverytreatmentwererandomly
selectedtoresearchthesurvivalratewiththreerepeti—
tions.
Thesubdistrictprophaseoutputwhichwastotal
productionbeforeJune10wasresearched.

ResultsandAnalysis
E仟bctsofdifferentrootstocksonsurvivalrate
ofgraftedcucumber
Fig.1showedthatthedifferentrootstockhaddifferent
affinitytotheion.Thehighestsurvivalrateofgraft
wasJJandFJ.79.0%and70.7%respectively,both
weremoreobviousthanCK2.HOJ.LJandCK2had
nosignificantdifferenceinthesurvivalrateofgraft.
ThesurvivalrateofgraftforD17JandD10J.which
hadnosignificantdifference,wereobviouslylower
thanCK2.ThesurvivalrateofgraftforGJwasthe
lowest,only42-3%,obviouslylowerthanCK2,butit
hadnosignificantdifferencetoD10J.

Table1 showedthattheprophaseoutputofgrafted
cucumberincreasedobviously.CK2wasthehighest,
whichwasobviouslyhigherthantheothertreatments.
FollowedbyJJ,FJ,HOJ,andD1 7J,theirprophase
outputallexceeded3×104kg·hm~.JJ.FJandHOJhad
nosignificantdifference.LJandGJhadlowprophase
output,obviouslylowerthantheothersexpectD10J,
LJ
whichhadnosignificantdifference.
Grafthadcertaininfluencetothequalityoffruit.The
gradesofqualityforgraftedcucumberswerelower
thanCKlexpectJJ.ThegradesofqualityforGJwas
the10west.nextwasD10J,bothwerelowerthanCK2.
Theirgradesofquality,beinggeneralintaste,were
1.83,2.17,and2.21 respectively.Thegradesofquality
forothergraftedcucumbers,beinggoodintaste,were
higherthanCK2,whichweresamebasicallyintaste
comparedtoCKl.

Discussion
Thesuitablerootstockrequestsstrongaffinitywiththe
cucumbercioninordertoguaranteethesurvivalrate
ofgraft.Heizinangua,havingmorestrongaffinitywith
thecion,istheidealrootstockincucumberproduction
inearlyspring【4]-Inourresearch,seedsweresowed
inthewinter,byplug—graftmethod,madethesurvival
rateofgraftfordifferentrootstockdifferent,accounted
fordifferentaffinitywiththecucumbercionfor
differentpumpkinrootstock.Thesurvivalrateofgraft
forJJandFJwas79.0%and70.7%respectively,they
wereobviouslyhigherthanCK2(Heizinanguaas
rootstock),whichindicatedthatrootstockJinhuanghou
andFengyihadhigheraffinitythanHeizinanguato
cucumberJinchunNo.2.Thesurvivalratesofgraftfor
D17J,D10J,andGJwereobviouslylowerthanCK2,
whichindicatedthatDaweiNo.17.DaweiNo.10and
GeliahaohadloweraffinitythanHeizinanguatocu-
cumberJinchunNo.2.
Whenplantsweregraftedbydifferentrootstockin
thesuitableseasoninwhichcucumberplantsgrowed
best,therewasnoremarkableinfluencetotheoutput
ofcucumber【5】.Wesowedseedsatthebeginningof
January,andplantedtheminthegreenhouseinearly

spring,sodisplayedthatdifferentrootstokscouldob—
viouslyincreasetheprophaseoutputofcucumber.This
indicatedthatgraftonlycouldexertthesuperiorityof
outputintheadversecircumstance.Inthisresearch,
becauseHeizinangua,beingawildpumpkin,hadvery
stronggrowthenergy,sotheprophaseoutputwasthe
highest.
Graftusuallyhadnegativeinfluenceonthequalityof
f-mit【6】.butthisinfluencewasdecidedbytherootstock
typeandthevariety.Thenegativeinfluencecouldbe
reducedbyfilteringtheappropriaterootstock.The
tasteandtheflavorweretheimportantcomponents
infruitquality,andgrafthadtheimportanteffecton
them.Sothetasteandflavorwereimportantbasisin
selectingrootstock.Inthisresearch,goodtastewas
JJ,LJ,FJ,HOJandD17J,andgeneraltastewasCK2,
D1 0JandGJ.AlthoughCK2hadcertaininfluenceon
thetasteofcucumber,Heizinanguacouldenhancethe
nutritionalqualityofcucumber【5】.Heizinanguawith
formidablerootsystem,havinggoodcapabilityof
bearinglowtemperature,couldobviouslyenhance
theoutputofcucumberandreducedisease.SoHei—
zinanguawasoftenusedintheearlyspringasroot—
stock.
Inaword,asrootstocksofgreenhousecucumber,
Jinhuanghou,Lvzhoujuxing,Fengyi,Huofenghuang,
